It is my firm belief that every HUMAN is a divine, beautiful, living, breathing altar. And Just as an altar in a temple requires care and maintenance to be kept sacred, so does the body, mind, and spirit of EVERY ONE OF US.
What I mean by ageless living, is that we live our lives full of vitality, and we shine our light brightly in the world.
However, often times THINGS HAPPEN & OUR LIGHT GETS DIMMED, EVENTS HAPPEN, OFTEN EVENTS THAT WE WOULD NOT CHOOSE FOR OURSELVES, OUR LIFE EXPERIENCES, THE CHALLENGES AND THE PAIN AS A RESULT OF OUR CHALLENGES…….
YET we CAN CHOOSE TO FOCUS ON THE FACT THAT WE HAVE PERSEVERED & GAINED RESILIENCY, WISDOM and STRENGTH FROM OUR WOUNDS.
AND other times we get busy doing all the things, ESPECIALLY AS WOMEN,
to take care of everyone, and our self-care and our dreams & desires often goes by the wayside, and we all know that when we are depleted, we can start to feel invisible, numbed out, dismissed, in resignation, tired, pessimistic , resentful, etc.
And I believe, now more than ever, WE DO NOT HAVE TIME TO LIVE AS LESS THAN WHO WE ARE, THE WORLD NEEDS EACH OF US, MORE THAN EVER TO SHARE OUR WISDOM, OUR LESSONS LEARNED AS A RESULT OF OUR LIFE EXPERIENCE. AND THE WORLD NEEDS THE UNIQUE GIFTS AND TALENTS THAT ONLY EACH OF US HAVE.
So I am going to give you some tips on how to embody an “ageless mindset and how to use your MIND & YOUR BODY to increase your longevity. Sound good?
SO WHEN I SPEAK OF LONGEVITY, I AM SPEAKING ABOUT HEALTHY LONGEVITY, LIVING A LONG LIFE WITH AN EQUALLY LONG HEALTH SPAN. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH AROUND WHAT LEADS TO HEALTHY LONGEVITY, AND WHAT HEALTHY CENTENARIANS HAVE IN COMMON.
I FEEL LIKE I HAVE BEEN GIVEN THE JOB TO INITIATE AS MANY FOLKS INTO THIS MINDSET, THIS MOVEMENT., THIS SUBCULTURE OF WELLNESS, BECAUSE WHAT THE RESEARCH IS SHOWING and here’s my motto that I learned from neuroscientist DR. Mario Martinez, “GROWING OLDER IS INEVITABLE, AGING IS OPTIONAL”
How did we get here?
Our western society subscribes to the ageist culture and believes that when you retire at 65, you are no longer of value. More emphasis today is put on outer beauty and culture has set rules of ‘accepted’ ways of life, like dictating how women of a certain age shouldn’t dress or wear their hair, which I believe is complete nonsense.
Youth is idealized, we are made to believe that dis-ease, decline, and deterioration is inevitable as we age. Growing up, women, especially, are pre-programmed, as I was, to feel that we are never pretty enough, smart enough, slim enough, rich enough, etc… You get the picture. These limiting beliefs and societal notions are toxic and dangerous. The anti-aging products, cosmetic surgery, cosmetics and beauty, media and advertising industries are notoriously capitalizing on this state.
What I think of all this: while the default healing process for western medicine waits until the problem happens to treat it, the Ageless Aging philosophy seeks to encourage prevention much earlier through achieving a solid lifestyle and mind-body-spirit connection.
Ageless aging is not about anti-aging, but it is about releasing ageist programming. It’s about accepting that everything has a definite shelf-life, from plants, trees, mountains, stars, biological life to human beings, we can all agree that none of us will get out of here alive. . However, we can influence the ageless part of us-our spirit/soul age and our biological age.
Being Ageless is focusing on what we can do to enrich our wellness or mind/body health span to ward off age-related diseases that need not be our destiny.
I have seen people find the love of their lives in their 70s and 80’s and are having the best sex of their lives. People in their 70’s and 80’s find work that they love, which has totally changed their lives. They changed what they thought was possible so that the best years of their lives were all ahead of them. That’s what I want for all of you.
We have been programmed to develop aches and pains and all kinds of stuff. Did you know that our health is shaped much more by our beliefs then our biology? And the best news is that a belief is just a recurring thought, and thoughts can be changed.
We have the information, tools and tips to achieve this, like learning what and how to think, eat, getting regular sleep, stress management and consistent physical activity, among others. And the thing we have most control of is our mindset, so join me in choosing to BE AGELESS!
